Forgive me for not posting lately. I took much needed time off over Thanksgiving and am just now getting back into the swing of things.
So let me start you off with a doozy.
Here are a few management questions for you:
– Why is it so hard for some people to play nicely in the professional sandbox?
– Do they have an incessant need to constantly go against the team’s plan?
– Does it make them happy to make others annoyed?
– Are they themselves just unhappy?
– What do you do with a person like this?
I’m curious to hear your thoughts.
No matter how nice your sandbox is, some neighborhood cat always burys a turd in it…
For some, talking about the plan is their favorite part. After all, if you’re talking about doing something you seem more like a manager than someone who is expected to, you know… do something.
one word: EGO!! Ok, I can’t stop at one word. Professional jealously. Elitism (sp?). The “I’m smarter than you are” syndrome. Undercutting. Undermining. Better stop there. I’ve seen in over and over in every job I’ve held. Now that I’m older, I observe and say to myself “oh pahleeze, get over yourself!”. Eventually they trip over themselves.
