June 2

Image Ah, summer. Thank you for being here. I won’t lie; I’m happy school is out. I never quite understood my friend’s annoyance of having to make school lunches until this past school year. While I appreciate school systems working to make cafeteria lunches healthier, I am not comfortable with the menus just yet and still send a lunch with my daughter. But I won’t lie – making school lunches can get old! But no worries, I’ll do it.

Kindergarten graduation – how adorable and fabulous was that?! Trust me, it was adorable and fabulous. The reality check, however, was the sign above the stage that read, “Class of 2024”. My mom was all, “I’ll be 80!” I’m like, “yes, but by then 80 will be the new 70”!

Anyway, I’ve been working and am now signing my daughter up for all kinds of mini-camps for the summer in addition to planned vacations. Golf, tennis, tae kwon do – I’m going to let her try everything. And, she’s going to read and keep a summer journal. And, of course there will be tons of swimming at the local pool. I’m very excited (and so is she, I think).

My 25th high school reunion is coming up and I won’t be attending. It’s in Florida and I live in TX. Since flying is difficult, I choose carefully. However, I do wish I could be there and I’m looking forward to the post-weekend photos on Facebook.  I can’t believe it’s been 25 years since I graduated from high school. Crazy good years, though. It’s funny to think how dramatic everything was in high school (and still is today with much worse consequences), and now everyone loves everyone. That’s neat. I wish the class of ’87 all the best.

Meanwhile, I’m counting down the days to football season. CANNOT WAIT. As much as I love every season because of the uniqueness of each one, there is no doubt that football season is my favorite. I just wish there wasn’t so much drama in college football; please, leave that to the NFL.

From a career perspective, I am enjoying my job. And, I must plug a new book that two people I respect recently published. As I am in marketing communications and have now been asked to take on lead/campaign management, I am thrilled that Geoff Livingston and Gini Dietrich published Marketing in the Round. THANK YOU. I have been tasked to sell the c-suite on how I can handle my new task and you two gave me the road map. THANK YOU.
