Foodie Adventures Await!

Many of you may know that I’m doing things differently going forward. If not, please see “Whew!”.

One of my new paths forward includes checking out Houston’s food scene. I once told Chris Salvo of Salvo Photography that similar to the movie “Julie and Julia”, I thought a person could eat their way through Houston. Now, I can’t eat out everyday, so I’m thinking I’ll head out once a week and then report back to you.

In addition, if I try a new recipe I’ll let you know how it turned out, what I thought, what you think, and ask for your input. For example, tonight I tried a recipe out of Whitney Miller’s “Modern Hospitality” cookbook. (Whitney is the first MasterChef.) This recipe is titled, “Mississippi Cheesesteak”. Basically, it is a great recipe for leftover pot roast. The recipe called for French bread, pot roast, sauteed onions and peppers (I didn’t add in the mushrooms), homemade pimento cheese (yes, I love homemade pimento cheese!!), as well as salt and pepper. The bread went under the broiler with one side piled with the roast, onions, peppers and pimento cheese. Toasted everything until the cheese was bubbly. Combined the bread slices for one yummy sandwich!!!!

If you try this one, let me know what you think.

Later this week, I will be at Brennan’s of Houston for an IABC/Houston professional development luncheon. I’ll share the luncheon menu and my thoughts as well as ask you for yours. Savvy?
